Over50Styling! Happy Friday! The weekend is looking hot and humid actually, but I can think about layers while the air conditioner runs! I used long or cropped jeans for each of these outfits. I found a recommendation in my perusal of pinnings a few days ago, that you should wear skinny jeans to make it easier to tuck them into boots. I'm of two minds. But then, I have skinny, straight and bootcut in my closet. Depends on your wardrobe budget and what looks good on your figure. I spend just as much time choosing the sayings on these posts as I do picking out the items in the outfits. So I hope you like the quotes and sayings as much as the stylin' outfits! I also hope you have a really great weekend! That's stylin'~
Over50Styling! Summer and white dresses just seem to go together! I chose three very different styles of white dresses for you today and added a color. I have LWDs with a color. I have red, as you see here, blue, and pink. You can choose any color to go with a white dress actually, I just happened to work with these three because of the accessories I came across in my search. So take a look at how I put these together and see what you find in your closet to style. Don't forget to add lipstick with a white dress. The color white can drain your face of its color, adding lipstick, even a nude color, is important. That's stylin'~
Over50Styling! Midweek and the weather here in NH feels like fall. In the spring it felt like winter. And some people don't believe we have damaged our atmosphere to the point that we are changing our weather patterns. Hmmm...
Well, today I have metals for you. I have silver, gold and bronze. I've kept it subtle, especially in the silver one, here. Here, it's actually only the earrings that are really silver, the rest is gray. And in the bronze, it's just the color bronze, not the real metal. But today, I just wasn't coming up with names for sets, so you got colors and metals. But I really like the outfits. I have long shorts and culottes with loose tops for lots of comfort in the warm weather. That's stylin'~
Hello! If you are in the European Union, I need your help. Blogger has added a notice to my blog, which I cannot see, about cookies and such. I need someone to tell me if it's there and working. I only need one someone. But I don't mind if more than one tells me. Could you please let me know by dropping me a note at email@example.com? Thanks so much! Judi
Over50Styling! It seems like most women like purple. I'm not sure what it is that attracts them. It happens to be my favorite color and always has been. I was born in February and my birthstone is the amethyst. That may explain my passion for the color. Yet it doesn't have a larger percentage of my wardrobe than other colors. In fact, I don't wear it very often. I find it difficult to shop for.
What I have for you are three outfits with skirts in moody shades of violet, grayed down shades of violet. This is the shade I usually end up wearing when I buy purple clothing. I think the clothing industry does purple wrong a lot of the time and most of what they make is unwearable. They just seem to get the shades and tints wrong. But this shade, is very wearable. Try it out and see what you come up with! That's stylin'~
Over50Styling! You just can't have enough dresses in the summer to throw on and be dressed completely. They are so easy. The three dresses I have for you today are that easy! They are ones to slip on over your head and smooth in place, look in the mirror and go! They have fun asymmetrical hems that flirt from knees to ankles and drift on the breeze. You can sit on the grass and watch a ball game or sit and sip tea from fine china. They are covered in lush summer floral prints and wear well with pretty little feminine shoes. That's stylin'~
Over50Styling! This weekend just kick back and relax in stylish t-shirts and jeans! No matter your plans, you're sure to find time to just relax, so do it with these stylish statement t-shirts that have popped up in all the stores. Choose your statement and just kick back! Have a great weekend! Judi and the blue cat!
Over50Styling!Summer and weddings go together. So I've got three looks for wedding guests. Two of these looks are rather elegant and styled for the typical formal wedding in a church and reception hall or large facility. The third look is for the woman who is in great shape from head to toe, and I know there are those of you out there. Not everyone simply falls apart when they reach 50! This look is short and has skinny straps. It has stiletto heels and a seude moto jacket for a cover up for the evening. So for those of you who can, rock it! But, PLEASE, send me a photo! firstname.lastname@example.org
Over50Styling! I'm sure you've seen them around, those attractive playsuits. You see the long jumpsuits and the short playsuits on a lot of people. Well, as long as they are cut properly, we can wear them, too! You don't want the top too skimpy, nor do you want it to be too short. Depending on your own body type, you can wear the fitted ones or the looser, flowy ones. Try them on and see what they look like on your body. When you try something on, especially something like this, always move in it. Stand, turn, sit, bend. How does it look and how does it feel? You should always consider both issues when you buy clothes.
I've got three different looks for you today with short playsuits. Take a look and see what you think. I've styled them all as real clothes, not as just something to throw on and that's it. I've got a skinny strap, a strapless and a long sleeved one. Which style suits you? How will you style it from your wardrobe? Try them on in the fitting room. Style them your way and take a selfie. It's amazing how different things look in a picture! Send me your picture at email@example.com so I can see, too!
Over50Styling! Summer is a short season, at least here in New England. We stretch it as best we can, but it really is fleeting. So often I see women in shorts who obviously need to go to their local WalMart and buy themselves a full-length mirror. Well, that applies to all seasons, but it seems that shorts beg to be sloppy. It's hot and it's just too much trouble to look good. Right?
Wrong! Shorts, even denim shorts, can and do look awesome with very little effort! Is it harder to put on a nice top than it is to put on a boring, wrinkled one? Of course not! So just take one moment to give it a thought and you can look wonderful in shorts all summer long, or all summer short! Sorry, bad joke!
The three outfits I have for you today are neat and attractive. They aren't denim, distressed or dirty. They are put together just as any other outfit would be with thought to style and what looks good on a woman's body. So take a look at them and then give some thought to your next shorts outfit. That's stylin'~
Over50Styling! You want to beat the heat and and look neat for something important, but you don't want to look too dressed up? Grab a sweet little striped dress and add a jacket! Here are three top looks to try anytime you have to go from the heat into the air conditioning! That's stylin'~
Over50Styling! This Friday, I have three shorts and kimono looks for you. If you haven't tried out kimonos, you should. At least try them in the store and move around in one to see just how comfortable it is. They drape and flow and are just generally lovely! You can go very casual with them or dress them up. You'll find them in plain cottons and sheer silks, so you should try more than one. Cotton on cotton will stay in place, like a cotton kimono over a t-shirt. Silk on skin will slide, like a silk one worn with a corset top. Depending on how much structure is put into the neckline and shoulder, a silk one could stay in place nicely or slip around more than you want. And on the other side of the coin, the cotton one may not need a lot of structure to make it stay in place, but it may not flow or drape as much as you'd like if it's too stiff or too heavy a fabric. So once you've tried some on and found what you want or the style you like, do check for quality and structure points. I hope you enjoy playing dress-up! Send me pictures of what you end up with and how you style them for your own wardrobes at firstname.lastname@example.org! That's stylin'!
Over50Styling! No, I have no LBDs today. Instead, I have swimwear! T'is the season, at least in this hemisphere.I'm constantly reminded lately about the southern hemisphere and their different season (brrrrr!). Sorry, ladies. I haven't figured out how a blog can do the whole world at one time and be seasonal. I'll keep thinking about it, though and see what I come up with! Well, today, as I said, I have swimwear. I chose all one piece suits today. With the changes that happen to our skin as we age, an awful lot of it doesn't need to be on display. I constantly find my skin is changing, in appearance and texture. I can't imagine what I'll look like or feel like in another 20 or 30 years if this is what I'm like at 58! And I don't go out in the sun anymore, and haven't for years. Several things you'll notice in these outfits possibly... ...the shoes are appropriate for walking on the surfaces in the set (sand or wood) ...the jewelry is kept to a minimum and classic without extras to distract (also less to lose in the sand or water or have to worry about leaving marks). So put together a new swimwear look for yourself or for someone else and send me a picture at email@example.com! That's stylin'~
Over50Styling! White jeans and white cotton slacks are just the thing for a sharp, crisp look in the summer. They always look smart. Add anything to them and they will take you anywhere looking good. So I have three looks for you this morning. And I say morning because this posts at 8:00 am for me. So I always think about you reading this with a cup of coffee and a scone. Or as I do, coffee and and English muffin with freshly made blueberry jam. My husband and daughter went berry picking again this past weekend and the jam closet is filling up again this year. So far, there is strawberry, cherry, raspberry and blueberry. I hear there's to be apple as well. I don't go berry picking, nor do I get involved in the jam making. I just help with the consumption. Especially with the cherry that didn't "jell". It was delicious over vanilla ice cream with just a bit of whipped cream. Now, back to white pants in the summer and the three looks I have for you this morning. The first one, looks patriotic, at least if you live in a country with the colors red, white and blue. That's not what it was meant to be. It just makes a pretty summer color scheme. I based it on the top and wanted to add the polka dot shoes along with the striped top. The second one is a pale palette with the white peasant style top, but in the summer, mostly white is nice and cool. I loved the sandals I found to add to this outfit. The two tones worked with the top and allowed me to add the clutch I had that I had been wanting to use. The third one is done with a corset top and kimono combination. I loved the floral print in the corset top and then I found the gorgeous handmade kimono with the gold stamping on it and had to add that. It brings out the darkest shade in the corset's print and keeps the outfit from being another light summer outfit. It adds glamour to the look. It's a look you could easily add a large hat to. And you know... that's stylin'!
Over50Styling! Summertime can be a time for a bit of elegance and chic. Take that summer dress idea and step it up. Change from little summer dresses to something with a bit more flair, a better cut, a more sophisticated air. Add on accessories to match that sophistication and flair and you have a summer look that can take you anywhere you need to look your best, anywhere you want to turn a few heads. Or maybe more than a few. That's stylin'!
Over50Styling! Summer brings all sorts of events and times when the most comfortable outfit and the most attractive thing to wear is a pretty summer dress. So I've got three here for this Monday morning. Pretty, soft and casual ones. Two of them are off-the-shoulder dresses that are so popular right now. Summertime dressing in summer dresses is cool and easy. A pretty summer dress, some sparkly earrings, some pretty shoes and a small handbag. If it's daytime, don't forget your favorite sunglasses! If it's evening, bring a light sweater for the cool breeze. That's summertime stylin'!
Over50Styling! Weekends are made for relaxing and no other fabric is made for relaxing quite like denim, well worn denim. Or, denim that's been broken in for you. Thank heaven the fashion industry does that for us these days! :) So what I've posted for you are three denim shorts looks. One is a shorts coveralls, or shortalls, look. Not a single one has a plain white or gray t-shirt or old sneakers in it. It's just as easy to pull on something pretty and comfy as it is to pull on something like a faded, old t-shirt that's just comfy. I'm trying to get myself into the habit of putting out my clothes the night before so that they are all ready in the morning and I don't have to think about what to wear. I have a hook inside my closet where I hang what I'll be wearing the next day I even set out shoes and accessories so that I don't get lazy and skip them. I tend to do that working at home. And it's worse in the summer. No one sees me, right? Well, I see me. My husband sees me. And friends I Skype with see me. Shouldn't they see me dressed properly? And shouldn't I be doing it for myself, too? So make the effort and look your best even if you are the only one to see you!
I hope you enjoy your weekend! Judi and the blue cat!
Over50Styling! It's Thursday, but instead of LBDresses, I have LBJumpsuits! Each look has an animal print look with it. There are no real animal skins used in any of these looks to the best of my knowledge. These are all fun looks and the jewelry in them is "over the top". I don't recommend trying to duplicate these looks, or any of the looks I post, but these are more suggestions of what to try. You may already have some of these items or similar items. See what you can do with your own wardrobe to get these looks, then shop for other items you may want to add to get similar looks. That's stylin'!
