I have a fascination for rainbows. When I get started on a color scheme, it tends to get carried away and expand to include almost all the colors. Well, we had a contest to do a bright and bold room design and guess who did a rainbow room? Yup!
So I thought I would share it with you. Do you think you could really live with a rainbow? I live with one. My rainbow runs burgundy, gold, forest green, and navy. Those are the colors in my living room, dining room and kitchen. Yes, I know there are some colors missing, like the orange and purple, but you really don't miss them when you get it all put together. I have walls of Pooh Bear Yellow (Home Depot Behr) in my living room and dining room. They bring in the sunshine year round. My upholstered furniture is honey camel. I love throw pillows and that's where I bring in all those colors. I also have painted furniture where I bring in Chinese red (dry sink) and bright navy blue (hutch). I keep fleece blankets around to snuggle under in the cold weather (NH) and they are the forest green and burgundy. I collect the rectangular statement pillows and have for years. So it's a rich, dark rainbow!
I recently started a make-over of my bedroom. When I pulled paint chips for all the colors I'm using, guess what I had? Yup, another rainbow in different tones. This one has some denim blue, sky blue, olive green, spring green, sunflower yellow, butter yellow, new cream, and coral watermelon. I'm using maps decoupaged on painted furniture. I have floor-length cream lace curtains. The walls are Dresden blue. My quilt has all the colors and my sheets are the coral watermelon. Again, no purple, but I really don't think it will be missed with everything else that will be there.
Not sure why I don't use purple, it's my favorite color! What's your favorite color and do you use it to decorate with or wear it often?
