A Worthy Successor

It was fantastic to return to the world of Mistborn and experience first-hand the salvation Vin, Elend, Sazed and the others paid such a tragic price for. They are the legends of this new generation, the heroes and gods who make up the mythology and inspire the culture and society of what was born from the destruction of the Final Empire. And now we have a new hero, a descendant of Breeze, who steps forward to save the world from a new danger with old roots.

Waxillium Ladrian is a lawkeeper, a man of the Roughs sworn to exact justice on behalf of those too weak to demand it for themselves. Forced back to the big city by his duty to marry and secure House Ladrian's fortunes, he will find leaving his old life behind more difficult than packing away his duster and matching Sterrions. With a humorous sidekick, an intriguing, but ineligible lady justice student, and his own sense of right Wax must face down a living legend who has turned his back on the laws he once swore to defend.

This new addition to the Mistborn saga melds into the established history seamlessly, and proves the seemingly boundless talent of Brandon Sanderson once more. Like its predecessors, "The Alloy of Law" is the perfect blend of drama, magic, humor, action, and deep moral exploration that we have come to expect from this series. I look forward to spending more time with this new cast who have inherited the legacy of a pantheon of beloved characters. May they do it justice! Bravo!
