The Monuments Men the movie

The Monuments Men the movie

I saw this movie during the weekend. I was very impressed with what they were able to cover of the situation in a movie. I know there was so much more to the situation and to the war, but they could have done a dozen movies and not been able to cover all the details of that. For what they did, they did well. Being an artist and an art student, I thoroughly enjoyed seeing all the masterpieces and the architecture of Europe. It broke my heart to see what was done to the artwork that was not recovered. I now have the book, "The Monuments Men" by Edsel to read. It should be interesting to compare the two. I'm not expecting the book to be exciting or have the personal touch that the actors brought to the movie. What I'm looking for in the book is more. The same story but more in depth, more extensive. While the movie focused on the recovery and protection of art, there was a lot of reconstruction done as well, I understand. So, I know there's a lot more to the book. I also understand that not all Monuments Men were men. There were women in uniform who took part in this and were not recognized in the movie. After I've read the book, I'll try to update you.
